The Big Lie.

Repeat it enough till you believe it I suppose.

Can an actor on a Broadway play suddenly stop in the middle of a play and start blathering on and on upon how much he loves Clinton? Can he claim Freedom of speech, and sue the producers of the production if the remove him from the stage?

Clearly not.

He freely entered into a contract with the producers of the play. He agreed to a contract.

Can Jack Lessenberry submit pages of his thoughts concerning how he feels about painting his toe nails with bean dip, and expect Metro Times to pay him?

Maybe... but most likely not.

The Big Lie here is framing the issue as a "Freedom of Speech" issue, when the truth is people do not have to enter into contracts, the issue is "Freedom to enter into contracts". No one is even attempting to limit the speech of any one, as long as they do it on their own dime.

I might not agree with what you have to say, I will defend your right to say it, but I will not pay you to say it.
