So some overgrown "Stem Cells" were destroyed during an experiment conducted by a woman, who wanted to see what would happen if the collection of cells were left with a stranger at a Detroit bus stop at one in the morning.

 What's the big whoop?

Can't Women can do experiments too?

Stem cell research.

If your core belief system is based upon the notion that:

All men are granted the privilege of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness by the State, realizing what the State gives the State can take away.

Then you can support the Detroit news in support of Stem Cell Research conducted on live humans, after all they don't do the research on dead cells. Use of living cells that are as part of the human continuum of life, is ok because the State has not granted those used in experimentation, the privilege of living.

If your core belief system is based upon the notion that:

All men are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. You realize that ones rights are inherent in being human, and the State need to be limited, so it does not obliterate the rights of an individual, even if the individual could be useful if ground up in some experiment.
